The violence, chaos and arson that are rife have one purpose: giving a bad name to the peaceful January 25 Revolution and the real revolutionaries, whom the public accuse of veering away from the true principles of the uprising that toppled Hosni Mubarak's regime two years ago. Now, unfortunately and thanks to the counterrevolution, the revolutionaries have been blamed for the chaos and deplorable conditions Egypt is suffering from, including excessive violence, and the destruction of public and private property nationwide. The Government and the opposition should be held accountable for this chaos because of their diehard competition for personal gain at the nation's expense. Such competition will only lead to the concerned parties committing political suicide and further chaos throughout the country. It is impossible to imagine the ruling Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) – the political arm of the Muslim Brotherhood – intends to let its maiden experience in ruling the country fail because its members have not made a sincere effort to end the chaos and thuggery, thus restoring security to the nation's streets. All visible indications show that the FJP has failed to solve these problems, and that the opposition, represented by the National Salvation Front (NSF), is using this failure to promote its own image among the people. With this failure, coupled with the violence and thuggery, the FJP has rendered a great service to the NSF, allowing the latter to exploit its mistakes and build up its image on its inability to solve the nation's most pressing problems. One can safely say that the conflict between these two forces is leading the nation nowhere, except to more division and strife among the Egyptians, as they watch the gap between the two powers grow wider every day. The Egyptians have now stopped blaming what used to be called the enemies of the revolution, the third party or the invisible other for every crisis. It is the political parties that should be blamed, as they no longer bear their responsibilities towards their nation, which is suffering terribly. By the Way: You are the disease and its cure. Your shining smile is a life belt and your image the kiss of life. [email protected]
