CAIRO - Visiting Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas met Friday Egypt's Intelligence Chief Murad Muwafi on the latest developments in the occupied Palestinian territories. During the meeting, they discussed ongoing efforts aiming to reinforce and bolster inter-Palestinian national unity and Palestinian moves to obtain a full UN membership for a Palestinian state, Palestinian Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Delegate to the Arab League Barakat Al-Farra told reporters. The Palestinian leader highly appreciated Egypt's role in the facilitation of a recent prisoner swap deal between Hamas and Israel, and in putting an end to Palestinian splits and divisions, Al-Farra added. Abbas arrived earlier on Friday on a two-day visit to Egypt where he is scheduled to meet Chairman of the country's ruling Supreme Council of the Armed Forces Field Marshal Tantawi on Saturday. They are expected to discuss the latest Palestinian situation and several issues of mutual interest.
