CAIRO (Updated 1) – Clashes erupted on Monday between Mubarak's loyalists and security forces on the one hand, and anti-Mubarak protesters on the other hand outside the Police Academy, New Cairo where Mubarak and his two sons are being tried, Al Youm Al-Sabea reported. Mubarak and his two sons Alaa and Gamal are accused of giving orders to kill protesters during the January 25 revolt. However they pleaded not guilty to such charges as well as other graft charges in the first hearing held on August 3. Former interior minister Habib el-Adli is being tried along with Mubarak in the same case for suppressing the popular uprising. Those found guilty for the deaths could face execution. The former president, who suffers from heart problems and depression, is in custody in a hospital near Cairo, while reports that he was also suffering from cancer have been denied. According to eyewitnesses, tens of families of the revolution victims had burnt Mubarak's pictures outside the Academy, calling for retribution. The trial is being held off-camera unlike the first two sessions which saw the 83-year-old Mubarak appearing in the dock on a stretcher.
