Egypt's Ahly to move for Ismaili Saied
Published in The Egyptian Gazette on 03 - 09 - 2011

CAIRO - Egypt's Al-Ahly are hoping to snap up want-out Ismaili playmaker Abdullah Al-Saied but conceded they have no intention of signing Hosni Abd-Rabou.
Al-Saied has been anything but happy at Ismaili recently, which saw him request transfer before being taunted by the home fans in a friendly pre-season game with Koroum on Friday.
The problem escalated when the 26-year-old reacted angrily by taking off his shirt and leaving the pitch as Ismaili are pondering transfer-listing him before his contract runs out next summer.
“There is mutual interest between Al-Ahly and Al-Saied and as soon as Ismaili put him up for sale, we'll make an offer,” Al-Ahly football director Sayed Abdul-Hafiz told Filgoal.com.
“We hope to have him on board as soon as possible and the same goes for striker Ahmed Ali.”
Egypt striker Ali spent half of last season on loan at Saudi Arabian champions Hilal and revealed on several occasions his desire to move to a bigger club.
Al-Ahly end Abd-Rabou pursuitHe was poised to join Qadsia this summer, but the Dervishes turned down a $600,000 offer from the Saudi side for their star striker.
Meanwhile, Abdul-Hafiz added that, despite the uncertain future of Abd-Rabou with Ismaili, Al-Ahly have no intention of signing him anymore.
“Abd-Rabou is a special player, but he is not on our list,” confirmed the former Ahli and Egypt midfielder.
Abd-Rabou agreed to sign a new contract with Ismaili last month but the crisis-hit club failed to fulfill the pre-agreement with the Egypt international, which brought negotiations back to square one.
The 27-year-old midfield ace is now free to sign for any team, but is reluctant to leave his boyhood club, amid pressure from the fans to convince him to stay.
