ALEXANDRIA - ‘Variations', the Tenth International Summer Festival, organised by the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, started on Friday and runs until July 30. The event features a variety of artistic performances encompassing music, theatre, cinema and plastic arts, according to the organisers. The musical performers include Omar Khairat, a number of young bands and the BA Orchestra, to name a few, in addition to the Nubian Folk Dance Troupe, while contemporary Egyptian films will be screened with the theme, ‘Voices of Anger'. In addition, three artistic exhibitions will be held on the sidelines of the festival: the ‘Alexandria International Symposium for Sculpture in Natural Material: Three-Dimensional Ceramics' (Sixth Meeting); the ‘Resident Artist Exhibition' (Sixth Meeting); and the ‘First Time Exhibition' (Young Plastic Artists' Sixth Meeting). Today there will be a forum entitled ‘Cinema: Animation Film', followed by animation films from Spain. After the films, Coke Riobo will give a seminar in the Auditorium at 7pm. Free entry.
