CAIRO �" Protesters of the eastern Cairo area of el-Salam clashed on Thursday with passersby in the vicinity of Egypt's TV building (Maspero) on the Nile Corniche. Traffic came to a complete pralysis, causing a jam in the vital downtown area, Al-Youm Al-Sabie website reported. The protesters, who began their sit-in a few days ago, said they wouldn't leave the site until their demands were to be met. They called on the government to hand l333 families housing units now that they have been dwelling in camps in el-Salam for a few months. Protesters, who have been sacked out of their rented flats by landlords, urged the government to fulfill its promise of granting them alternative apartments. According to protesters the sit-in has been prompted by the government's late response. They vowed not to leave their place until they get suitable lodging.
