CAIRO - Iran's Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi said Sunday that Tehran and Cairo were strongly determined to resume bilateral ties. Salehi reiterated in statements to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) that the two countries had announced their strong will to resume all-out cooperation. He referred to "great potentials in both countries" that paved the way for resuming bilateral political, economic and cultural relations. Officials in Egypt and Iran are exchanging views and consulting on opening a new chapter in bilateral ties, he said. Salehi noted that he would meet with his Egyptian counterpart Nabil el-Arabi on the sideliens of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Foreign Ministers meeting in Indonesia. Boosting bilateral cooperation between Egypt and Iran will benefit all Islamic states and the entire region.
