CAIRO - After being temporarily remanded for 15 day over illicit gains, the state prosecutor decided to renew the detention of Safwat el-Sherif, the former secretary-general of the formerly ruling National Democratic Party (NDP), for another 15 days, MENA news agency said on Saturday. "The state prosecutor Abdel Maguid Mahmoud decided to renew the detention of Safwat el-Sherif for 15 days for questioning when his last detention period expires," the agency reported. El-Sherif is interrogated over illicit gains. Mubarak, who was forced to resign in February after mass protests, was first remanded into preventive custody for 15 days on April 13 on suspicion of involvement in a deadly crackdown on protesters and corruption.
