CAIRO - A group of young artists who participated in January 25 revolution are preparing a play about it called ‘Al Tahrir Stories'. The play, which will probably be the first theatrical work about the recent revolution, describes it through the stories of millions of citizens who lived its events day by day. ‘Al Tahrir Stories' is due to open at Qasr el-Nil Theatre, downtown, on 31 March. On a a Facebook page of the same name, young Egyptians say that the true stories from Al Tahrir Square, the epicentre of the revolution, and the events people lived and experienced throughout the-18 day revolution have inspired them to write the play. The play will dwell heavily on the violence of the police, who teargassed the revolutionaries and shot them with rubber and live bullets. It will also dwell on the notorious incident when thugs mounted on horses and camels launched a murderous attack on the demonstrators in Al Tahrir, as well as recalling the violence in Suez and Alexandria governorates, the popular committees and the ‘midnight gangs'. On their Facebook page, ‘Al Tahrir Stories', the young revolutionaries have been asking anyone with photos or videos from the revolution to send them to them.
