CAIRO - Egyptian giants Al-Ahly have named former player Abdel Aziz Abdel Shafi as their new coach on a temporary basis. He replaces Hossam Al Badri, who resigned at the weekend following a league defeat by Ismaili. Shafi will be joined by Sayed Abdel Hafeez, another former Ahly and Egypt star, who will be Football Director. Shafi, 57, was known as Zizo in his playing days with Ahly and Egypt, and has been appointed for the rest of the Egyptian league season. He coached the first team shortly after the end of his playing career and has most recently been involved in Ahly's youth set-up. Hafeez retired from playing only three years ago and still has good connections with the current playing staff. He has been employed as a link between the club's board and the coaching staff and has also been working for Al-Ahly television.
