South Korea surveillance plane crashes

SEOUL - A South Korean surveillance plane has crashed in the southwest of the country, the defence ministry in Seoul said on Friday.
A ministry official denied an earlier report by South Korea's YTN cable TV network that said a US plane that crashed. “It's ours,” the official said. “We're on a search and rescue operation.”
The crash took place near the city of Jeonju, the official said, adding there was no confirmation on the fate of the two pilots believed to have been on board.
South Korea's military had been on high alert against possible armed threats by North Korea, with which it technically remains at war under a truce, as the country hosts the leaders of G20 summit ending on Friday.
The crash came a day after a South Korean navy ship sank off the country's southwestern coast after colliding with a fishing boat.
