ASWAN - The city of Aswan in southern Egypt was on Sunday hit by two tremors measuring 4.6 degrees on the Richter scale. The Director of the Regional Centre for Earthquakes in Egypt Raafat El Shafei told reporters Sunday that the High Dam was not badly affected by these two quakes, noting that the dam can withstand earthquakes exceeding eight degrees. However, a high state of alert was ordered at the level of the city of Aswan to confront any other tremors that may occur in the next few hours, noting that no information on casualties was reported.
