CAIRO, Oct 6, 2018 (MENA) - Egyptian Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar will participate in the 15th meetings of the Science and Technology in Society (STS) forum 2018 to kick off in the Japanese city of Kyoto on Sunday. Abdel Ghaffar will take part in the three- day event upon an invitation from the founder and chairman of the forum, Koji Omi. The event which runs for three days, is organized annually under the sponsorship of the Japanese government with the participation of 80 countries worldwide. In a statement on Saturday, the Higher Education Ministry said that the forum targets enhancing cooperation among the participating countries in the field of science, technology and innovation besides probing nation-to-nation technology transfer mechanisms. The forum discusses also the role of technology in achieving sustainable development goals and benefiting from national experiences, the statement read, adding that the event aims at launching initiatives and discovering new creative ideas. The forum, say the organizers, is a platform to form collaborative networks between academia, industry and government leaders to build a better world together.
