CAIRO, Sept 29, 2018 (MENA) – Egypt's ambassador to Cyprus Mai Khalil received Saturday Egyptian fishermen released by Cypriot authorities after being held over violating the territorial waters of Northern Cyprus. Khalil, the embassy staff, owner of their ship, and police officials were keen on receiving them as they arrived Limassol port in Southern Cyprus, Foreign Ministry's spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said. Five Egyptian fishermen held on board a ship off Northern Cyprus have been released on Friday. Efforts by the Egyptian embassy in Nicosia secured the release of the fishermen, who were held for around a week. The court in Northern Cyprus fined the fishermen around 500 euros, allowing them to leave. The ship's Cypriot owner paid the fines.
