CAIRO, Sept 16 , 2018 (MENA) - The National Council for Childhood and Motherhood Sunday said that the #IamAgainstBullying campaign has been positively received by various age groups. "I am so glad with the positive reactions after two weeks of launching the campaign against bullying among children, under the auspices of the council and in cooperation with the UNICEF. It is supported by the European Union in partnership with the Ministry of Education," Secretary General of the Council Dr Azza el Ashmawi said. She referred to the messages received from several school pupils expressing their admiration of the campaign. Ashmaqi pointed out that one female pupil said she witnessed many problems related to bullying in her preparatory school. "As soon as I saw the campaign I contacted to share some of the incidents I've seen at school because bullying harms pupils psychologically and I hate bullies," she quoted the pupil as saying. Ashmawi pointed out that bullying is a kind of aggressive and annoying behavior against others. It is not a new phenomenon to the society but awareness against it is increasing now, she said. The child emergency hotline 16000 has received 12,923 calls since the start of the campaign around two weeks ago, she said, adding that according to the calls received, Cairo is the highest in the number of calls followed by Alexandria and Giza. Calls by males reached 70% of the total calls as males are more prone to violence, she said. Pupils aged between 10 and 12 represent almost half of the number of calls, she added.
