CAIRO, Aug 8, 2018 (MENA) - The trade balance deficit rose by 12.6 per cent to register $ 3.84 billion in May 2018 against $3.42 billion in the same month last year, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS). Exports ratcheted up by 1.4 percent to stand at $2.48 billion in May 2018 against $2.44 billion in the same month last year, according to the CAPMAS monthly bulletin out on Wednesday. Imports increased by 7.9 percent in May 2018 to record $ 6.32 billion against $5.86 billion in the corresponding month last year. The report cited the decrease of imports of some commodities, mainly wheat by 26.9%, corn by 0.5%, power generators by 36.4% and copper by 42.1%.
