CAIRO, July 3, 2018 (MENA) - Egypt and the UAE are cooperating to create a better future in the Arab region, said UAE Minister of Cabinet Affairs and the Future Mohammed bin Abdullah al Gergawi. The UAE minister considered that government administration is one of the major topics of cooperation. Gergawi gave the remarks on Tuesday on the sidelines of "Egypt Government Excellence Conference 2018", the first of its kind to take place in Egypt. Gergawi termed the UAE-Egyptian model as a model of building human capabilities across the region, saying that the conference is the first step to launch such a model amid the difficult conditions taking place in the region. The conference will offer international, Arab, Egyptian and UAE experiences, Gergawi said, adding that Egypt Government Excellence award will be launched later. The first ever UAE cabinet had been formed from ministers who studied in Egypt, he said, noting that Egypt's role then continued in the UAE through the Egyptian teachers, doctors, legal consultants and many others. The UAE is returning a little bit of the Egyptian favor, he said. The conference is the first step toward implementing a memorandum of understanding to modernize government work in Egypt. The MoU was signed by the Egyptian Planning Ministry and the UAE Ministry of Cabinet Affairs and the Future on the sidelines of the World Government Summit, which was held in Dubai on February 11-13. It is focusing on four main topics; government performance, efficiency and excellence, government capabilities, smart services and government stimulus.
