Update 4: President Sisi assigned gov't to ease up life of citizens
Published in The Egyptian Gazette on 03 - 07 - 2018

CAIRO, July 3, 2018 (MENA) - Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli noted that his government's policy seeks improving the standard of living of the Egyptian citizen and maintaining the rights of the marginalized segments.
The ordinary citizen will feel tangible improvement in several sectors that are related to his daily life in the coming few months, he promised. These sectors include food commodities, traffic and public transportation and housing along with water and sanitary drainage, he added.
Also, the low-cost housing program includes continuing the building of up to 230,000 housing units nationwide and starting the building of up to 500,000 more for the low- income brackets, he pointed out.
The government's platform includes providing clean potable water to all citizens, said Madbouli. Sanitary sewage will also cover all urban areas and up to 60 percent of rural areas, he said.
Railways services will also improve with operating 250 new modern locomotives and overhauling 130 old ones as well as providing 1,300 new carriages and 300 cargo units to the sector along with rehabilitating the railway signalling system, he added, noting that work is also going on in the electric train project which will connect east Cairo with the new cities.
Renewing the national road network will be completed through adding 1,600 km at a total cost of 20 billion pounds and upgrading the current network at a length of 2,500 km at a total cost of 25 billion pounds, he said. Within this framework 20 new bridges will be set up at a cost of 2.5 billion pounds, he added.
Social protection measures will be enhanced with around 18 million citizens benefiting from Solidarity and Dignity Program at a cost of around 20 billion pounds annually, he pointed out.
Also, rural housing units will be improved as the number of families benefiting from the project will increase to reach 22,000, he said.
A new program will be launched for employment of women and youth, he said, noting that the project will provide up to 100,000 jobs in several domains.
