CAIRO, July 1, 2018 (MENA) - Egypt has been keen on enhancing its relations with the African countries as President Abdel Fattah El Sisi focused on the continent's issues in most of his activities abroad especially in the General Assembly of the United Nations, said presidential spokesman Bassam Rady. In statements to MENA on the occasion of holding the 31st African Union Summit in Mauritania, Rady underlined that President Sisi placed the Egyptian-African ties on the top priorities of the foreign relations' file since assuming power in 2014. The file is based on several axes including intensifying meetings with African leaders, making tours that included several countries of the continent besides participating in the African summits, the spokesman asserted. These efforts resulted in promoting Egypt's ties with the African continent and its institutions topped by the African Union (AU), pointing out to the country's chairmanship of the AU summit in 2019, Rady reiterated.
