Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas would meet Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak in Cairo on Sunday, the official Palestinian news agency (Wafa) reported Wednesday. "The meeting would discuss recent developments in the Palestinian arena, especially the peace process and the results of indirect negotiations with Israel," Wafa quoted Barakat Al-Farra, the Palestinian National Authority (PNA)'s ambassador in Cairo, as saying. Abbas was due to meet Mubarak on Wednesday, but Egypt postponed the meeting to Sunday, Al-Farra said without giving further details on the postponement. Egypt also delayed a meeting between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Mubarak, which was due Tuesday, to Sunday. In May, the United States launched indirect negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians to bridge the gaps through talks on issues related to the future establishment of a Palestinian statehood. It is unclear whether President Mubarak postponed his meeting with Netanyahu to protest against the recent approval of the settlement expansion plan, said the report.
