CAIRO, May 7, 2018 (MENA) - Egypt's Communications and Information Technology (CIT) Minister Yasser el Qadi left on Monday for the Rwandan capital of Kigali to participate in the fourth Transform Africa 2018 Summit (TAS) that will last till Thursday. In a statement on Monday, the CIT Ministry said that Qadi, on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, will participate in the summit, which is held under the theme "Accelerating Africa's Single Digital Market". The summit brings together over 4,000 participants, including Heads of State and Government, First Ladies, UN Broadband Commissioners, Ministers, Public and Private Sector, international organizations, industry leaders, investors, entrepreneurs, Young innovators, Civil Society and Academia. The summit calls to embrace one solution that will realise the benefits of the Continental Free Trade Area agreement (CFTA). TAS 2018 will serve as a platform for stakeholders to share their experiences, best practices and engage in important conversations expected to boost Africa's digital transformation. The summit will hold discussions on key technologies including the Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data, Artificial Intelligence, Virtual and Augmented reality, drones, robotics, 3D printing, Block-Chain, Green Energy, FinTech and other cutting-edge topics. The first Transform Africa summit was held in Kigali on October 28, 2013. It witnessed the launch of a study commissioned by the African Development Bank (AfDB) on how to fully integrate Africa into the cyber world. "Smart Africa" came out of the Transform Africa Summit 2013. The Smart Africa Manifesto, the foundation of this initiative, is based on 5 principles: To put ICT at the center of our national socio-economic development agenda; To improve access to ICT especially Broadband; To improve accountability, efficiency and openness through ICT; To put the Private Sector First; To leverage ICT to promote sustainable development
