By: Gazette Staff CAIRO, April 26, 2018 - The Egyptian-Bahraini special forces on Thursday successfully ended their joint military drill, code-named "Khaled Ibn Al Waleed 2018", which was held over several days in Bahrain. The aim of the drill, which included lectures and manoeuvres, was to ensure Egyptian-Bahraini coordination and an exchange of combat expertise. The commander-in-chief of the Royal Bahraini Special Forces thanked the Egyptian troops taking part and praised their outstanding performance during the drill. He said that he was happy that many Bahraini officers had graduated from Egyptian military colleges and institutes. The commander hailed the genuine fraternity that bound the two countries. The leader of the Egyptian forces conveyed special greetings from the Egyptian Minister of Defence, General Sedki Sobhi, to the Bahraini troops at the end of the drill, which was designed by the Egyptian Armed Forces. The final phase of the "Khaled Ibn Al Waleed 2018" exercise included a shooting session with live ammunition and a training demonstration of how to storm a building and an aircraft to release hostages. The training was designed to integrate the forces taking part in the drill and to establish a unified operations concept with the Egyptian and Bahraini Special Forces. The whole programme is part of the Egyptian Armed Forces' plan to transfer and exchange expertise with the armies of friendly Arab countries.
