The Libyan parties participating in the preparatory meeting for national reconciliation, on Sunday in the Congolese city of Brazzaville, have adopted several basic principles for reconciliation in Libya, according to a statement. Among the principles adopted during the Brazzaville meeting was the complete rejection of internationalization of the Libyan crisis and foreign interference. The meeting, chaired by Congolese Foreign Minister Jean-Claude Gakuso, was attended by representatives of the Libyan parliament, the Presidential Council, and Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, the son of late leader Muammar Gaddafi. It was not possible to know whether all Libyan parties were represented in the meeting, especially the two rival governments. The meeting also condemned hate speech, acts of violence, contempt, insults, slander, arrogance, and other actions contrary to brotherhood, solidarity, and tolerance." The meeting was held in the presence of the UN representative in the Congo Chris Mburu and the strategic adviser to the chairperson of the AU Commission Mohamed Alassane. "The solution to the Libyan crisis comes from Africa," said Jean-Claude Gakuso, noting that the international community's attention to Africa declined due to the Russia-Ukraine war.
