Hospital occupancy for COVID-19 patients decreased in the past ten days: Health Ministry

Hospital occupancy for patients with the Coronavirus has decreased during the period from 10 to 20 February 2022 compared to the period from 1 to 10 February, Egypt's Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and acting Minister of Health and Population, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, announced on Tuesday.
The number of home isolation patients has also decreased by 41.9% in the same period.
During the weekly meeting of the senior officials of the Health Ministry, Abdel Ghaffar was briefed on reports on hospital occupancy, occupancy rates for internal and intermediate beds and intensive care units. He also followed up on the periodic preparation and development of hospitals, confirming the availability of a sufficient stock of medicines and medical supplies needed for patients.
Moreover, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, stated that the meeting addressed the distribution of Coronavirus patients to hospitals in the governorates, stressing the continuation of periodic monitoring of hospitals through specialized committees from the sectors of the ministry, to ensure the availability of manpower and follow up the performance level of teams.
The monitoring aims also to ensure the implementation of the Coronavirus treatment protocol, and the availability of a strategic stock of medicines and medical supplies.
Abdel Ghaffar noted that citizens can receive the second and refresher doses of the Coronavirus vaccine within two months of receiving the text message to set the date, as well as the possibility of changing the location of receiving the refresher dose if desired by calling the ministry's hotline and requesting the change.
He stressed the continuation of providing awareness to citizens through the trained medical teams in the vaccination centers and community communication teams deployed in the governorates.
