Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly delivered on Saturday a speech on behalf of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi on a video conference call during the African Union summit meeting in which he affirmed Egypt's readiness to help African countries in facing terrorism.
The summit is being held under the chairmanship of Felix Tshisekedi, the President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and current chairman of the African Union.
During the speech, Madbouly reviewed Egypt's position on a number of issues of peace and security in the African continent, calling for the formulation of a clear African strategy to eliminate the threat of extremism and terrorism and dry up its sources of financing.
He stressed Egypt's readiness to provide assistance to the countries of the continent through the intensification of training courses provided to its cadres in the field of counterterrorism.
He also referred to Egypt's participation in UN peacekeeping missions and the continuation of these efforts through the Cairo-based Sahel-Sahara Counter-Terrorism Centre, and the country's readiness to provide more support, both bilaterally and through the mechanisms of the African Union.
Madbouly concluded the speech by stressing that Egypt as always will spare no effort to work with its African brothers to overcome challenges facing the African continent and return to progressing at a steady pace towards achieving the goals and aspirations of the continent's peoples.
Commenting on the speech, Tshisekedi, thanked Madbouly and President Al-Sisi for the readiness of the Egyptian state to provide more support to strengthen the capabilities of various African countries.
Tshisekedi added that these efforts are commendable and that the African continent needs all forms of support.
