Egypt Environment Minister heads to Glasgow for COP26 meetings Fouad to hold several bilateral meetings with environment ministers participating in the conference
Egypt's Minister of Environment Yasmine headed to Glasgow in the United Kingdom, to participate in the high-level ministerial part of the 26th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26). Fouad explained that Egypt and the other parties are looking forward to the COP26 conference achieving outstanding results that are implemented on the ground. The minister said she is hopeful that COP26 will lead to finalising controversial issues to reach an action plan to achieve the desired goals in the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement. She further pointed out that the conference discussed topics related to mitigation and adaptation in addition to the climate finance target. The Minister of Environment is scheduled to hold several bilateral meetings with many environment ministers of countries participating in the conference. Fouad will also participate in a series of meetings that will discuss ways to confront climate change, the concrete steps and the urgent measures that must be taken to meet global climate goals. Her schedule will include meetings to discuss food systems, green agriculture and resistance to climate change. She will also chair with her Swedish counterpart the Climate Change Group to facilitate consensus on the text between developing and developed countries. The conference will witness the holding of a meeting of the Arab Group at the ministerial level to discuss the effects of climate change on the Arab countries. The meeting aims to determine the steps that the region must take to meet these challenges.
