Government follows up on St. Catherine tourism projects in Sinai
Meeting discusses procedures to activate ecotourism, preserve biological diversity in Sinai

Egypt's Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad and Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled El-Anani have met to follow up on the progress of the so-called "Great Transfiguration over the Land of Peace" tourism project in St. Catherine city.
They discussed procedures to activate ecotourism and preserve biological diversity, in implementation of the directives of the Prime Minister.
Mounir Neamatallah, the environmental expert, and Mustafa Mounir, the technical advisor to the Minister of Housing, and several officials participated in the meeting.
They discussed an integrated vision for marketing the eco-lodge in St. Catherine with the aim of developing ecotourism and visitor services in the region and promoting it as a destination for global tourism.
El-Anani stressed the need to develop and raise the efficiency of the hotels in St. Catherine while adhering to the city's environmental standards and heritage identity through the use of building materials suitable for the surrounding environment.
He added that the ministry supports and encourages responsible and sustainable ecotourism, which aims to preserve the environment and integrate local communities.
For her part, Minister Fouad said that the meeting tackled controls that ensure providing all tourism and recreational services for visitors, while preserving the environmental character and distinctive visual identity of St. Catherine city.
