Egypt's Water Resources Minister reviews water situation, management mechanisms to meet demands
Ministry is continually working to achieve optimum use of Egypt's water resources during period of maximum consumption

Egypt's Supreme Committee of the Nile Water Flow, headed by Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Mohamed Abdel Atty, has reviewed the water situation in the country.
The meeting also sought to review the mechanisms of water management available in the country to meet the demand of different sectors.
During the meeting on Monday, Abdel Atty addressed the means of achieving the optimum use of Egypt's water resources during the period of maximum consumption. This is with a view in order to provide the country's farmers with the required water during the agriculture season.
Abdel Atty said that his ministry is undertaking continuous efforts as part of a comprehensive vision aimed at providing the required water needs for all sectors.
It will reflect positively on achieving sustainable development goals, and providing services to beneficiaries with the highest degree of justice and effectiveness.
The minister pointed out that the committee is in permanent session to follow up on rainfall rates at the River Nile's sources, and to determine the quantities of water reaching the Aswan High Dam lake.
Abdel Atty highlighted the need for his ministry to continue maintaining a state of nationwide emergency to follow up on the water levels in canals and drains. This would also ensure the readiness of the bridge sectors to confront any emergency, and the readiness of all stations, electrical feeding lines feeding them, and emergency units.
The minister highlighted the need to monitor all forms of encroachments on the River Nile, canals, and drains. This would see an immediate and decisive response to such encroachments, and remove them in coordination with the concerned state agencies.
