Egypt's PM reviews plan to develop road networks west of Greater Cairo
Published in Daily News Egypt on 04 - 07 - 2021

Egypt's Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has reviewed the plan to develop the road network and axes in areas west of the Greater Cairo Governorate.
The meeting took place in the presence of: Assem El Gazzar, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities; and Giza Governor Ahmed Rashid.
Madbouly asserted that the plan to develop the road network in the Greater Cairo Governorate comes in light of directives from President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi to raise the efficiency of roads and traffic axes across the country.
The improvements aim to ease traffic for citizens who use those roads and axes, whilst working on opening new axes, which will contribute to eliminating traffic jams and solving the problem of overcrowding.
During the meeting, it was reaffirmed that the development plan includes increasing the network's capacity and raising efficiency in the region, which suffers from high traffic density and severe traffic jams.
The capacity will be increased through establishing main axes and linking them to the surrounding regional axes, in addition to developing some main streets to raise traffic efficiency in them.
The plan also includes the construction of several new axes, including the Sabtia-Imbaba Axis, the Amr Ibn Al-Aas Axis, and the Sadat Axis. This is in addition to expanding the 26th of July Axis, which links Al-Galaa Street in downtown Cairo with the Cairo-Alexandria Desert Road.
