Egypt's Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly directed, on Sunday, for the preparation of an integrated development plan for west Greater Cairo's roads.
Once completed, the plan will be presented to President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi for review.
Madbouly met with Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Assem El Gazzar to follow up on the plans to develop a number of roads in Giza Governorate.
The Prime Minister said that there are directives from Al-Sisi to develop the traffic axes in the western Great Cairo, to integrate the development plan for the area and raise its efficiency.
He asserted that Egypt has undertaken efforts to ease road traffic, in addition to working on opening new axes, which contributes to eliminating traffic jams, and solving the problem of overcrowding.
Madbouly affirmed the importance of coordinating with the General Authority for Roads, Bridges, and Land Transport with regard to the intertwined works, development projects, and especially the expansion and development of the Ring Road.
During the meeting, the road network development plan in west Greater Cairo was reviewed, including establishing main axes and linking them to the surrounding regional axes. This also includes developing some main streets to raise the efficiency of traffic in the region.
The meeting also tackled the work on the 26 July axis, which aims to solve traffic congestion, reduce travel time, and achieve traffic fluidity. It is expected that this will take place after separating traffic directions, which will positively affect fuel consumption.
