Egypt's International Cooperation Ministry, National Training Academy discuss cooperation to develop human capital
Minister Al-Mashat plans to support academy academy programmes through its Multi-Stakeholder Platforms
Published in Daily News Egypt on 24 - 05 - 2021

Egypt's Minister of International Cooperation Rania Al-Mashat has met with Rasha Ragheb, Executive Director of the National Training Academy (NTA), to discuss joint cooperation as part of the country's plan to invest in human capital.
The cooperation also aims to develop the capabilities to contribute to Egypt's development efforts across all sectors. It also aims to strengthen global partnerships between the NTA and multilateral and bilateral development partners, so that the academy implements its plans in training and capacity building.
During the meeting, Ragheb presented the NTA's work and programmes to develop human resources, enhance leadership, and grant opportunities for the youth to ensure leadership roles are more available. As a result, this will effectively empower, train, and qualify them for the jobs of the future.
She also noted that the academy's activities are divided into several sectors, namely: the Presidential Leadership Training school, which includes five important programmes; and the Presidential Leadership Programme (PLP), launched in 2016 by President Abdel Fatah Al-Sisi.
This programme was the main impetus for establishing the academy, in order to equip Egyptian youth with the necessary skills in the competitive business environment.
The meeting included discussions regarding the protocol signed between the NTA and the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology in Egypt (KAIST). This aims to inaugurate the institute's first branch in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region in the New Administrative Capital (NAC).
Further discussions took place in regards to the possibility of partnering with International Financial Institutions (IFIs) to develop a new centre. The collaborative talks and affiliations come as part of the Ministry of International Cooperation's mandate to strengthen global partnerships, in advancing the country's development vision.
Minister Al-Mashat applauded the NTA's support to partner with multilateral and bilateral development partners, be it from Korea or other global powerhouses. The partnerships aim to support the academy's projects especially in inaugurating the KAIST branch.
It is noteworthy that KAIST is the oldest Korean institute specialised in graduating experienced employees in science and technology.
Minister Al-Mashat stated that her ministry works towards advancing international partnerships to achieve sustainable development through the three principles of Economic Diplomacy. This includes Multi-Stakeholder Platforms (MSPs) to ensure that all projects between development partners are streamlined and effectively coordinated to accelerate the pace of development for the achievement of UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
In addition, the ministry focuses on the ODA SDG Mapping Framework for all projects with multilateral and bilateral development partners to make sure that all projects reinstate the sustainability ethos.
The final principle covers the Global Partnerships Narrative, using a consistent narrative to communicate the progress clearly to all parties, through People at the Core, Projects in Action, and Purpose as the Driver (P&P&P).
Minister Al-Mashat also indicated that her ministry will hold a meeting as part of the MSPs, to bring together multilateral and bilateral development partners.
The meeting will review the efforts exerted by the NTA in order to present its activities, and hold international partnerships which reflect on enhancing the academy' efforts to develop human capital.
