ZED for Sports Investment has officially launched the ZED Sports Club, established on an area of 40 feddans in New Cairo.
The company has appointed Seif Zaher as the CEO of the club. The announcement came during a press conference held at ZED Park, Sheikh Zayed, in the presence of: Naguib Sawiris; Onsi Sawiris, Chairperson of ZED Club; Ahmed Diab, Chief Operating Officer of ZED for Sports Investment; Seif Zaher, ZED Sports Club CEO; and several sports legends and public figures.
The recent announcement aligns with the company's strategy to support Egypt's Vision 2030, and to help improve public lifestyle and support the various sports development programmes.
With the new launch of the ZED Sports Club in New Cairo, ZED Sports takes another major step in its ambitious plan to revolutionise the sports scene in Egypt. It aims to do so by offering the latest training programmes, facilities, athletic fields, and world-class trainers across various sports to breed a new generation of athletes.
ZED is set to start the construction of the ZED Sports Club in New Cairo, with the club set to house several professional training fields for a number of sports, including tennis, football, paddle, squash, American football, and women's football.
For the first time in Egypt, the club will introduce a sports university that aims to educate and prepare the needed human resources and players for the country's sports industry. The club will provide all necessary services, including SPAs, gym halls, fitting rooms, equipment rooms, restaurants, in addition to a first aid room.
ZED Sports Club will feature a football complex that can welcome up to 1,000 spectators, two training fields with legal specifications that accommodate 11 players on each team, and four five-a-side football pitches.
In addition to the football pitches, the club will secure a wide variety of facilities that include eight tennis courts, four paddleball courts, six squash courts with glass halls with a capacity of 500 spectators, and a gymnastics and martial arts hall.
This is in addition to a swimming pool complex that includes an indoor swimming pool, an outdoor pool, a heated training pool, and another heated swimming pool for children. It comes in addition to a heated Olympic swimming pool, a gym, and a spa spanning 900 sqm.
All the pitches are equipped with all services such as changing rooms, restaurants and coffee shops, and spectator seats.
"The launch of ZED Sports Club is part of our long-term strategy to invest in sports with the ultimate objective to create a full-fledged sports system with the highest standards across the different sports," said ZED Sports Club Chairperson Onsi Sawiris, "We aim to introduce new sports never seen before in Egypt. With the launch of the sports university, we aim to create a new generation of athletes who can compete on the local and international levels across many sports capitalising on the vast pool of sports talents in Egypt and the immense investment opportunities in the field."
For his part, Diab said that the launch aims to "build a new generation of athletes qualified to compete internationally and pursue their careers abroad is a top priority for us".
"At ZED Sports, we always team up with the best-in-class international academies in each sport to ensure the best quality and trainers," he said, adding, "A solid example for this is our partnership with Borussia Dortmund to supervise ZED FC youth academy."
For his part, Seif Zaher, CEO of ZED Sports Club commented on his appointment, saying, "I'm honored to be part of ZED Sports as we aspire to offer the opportunity for local talents across Egypt to enhance their skills and have access to world-class training systems."
He added, "This would ultimately reflect on the overall development of the sports scene in Egypt and allow for more competition in regional and international tournaments."
A number of young sports figures have been appointed to ZED technical board including Egypt's squash sensation Nour El Sherbiny, who signed for ZED a couple of weeks ago.
