Egyptian Armed Forces continue sterilisation at major mosques during Ramadan
Al-Azhar, Al-Hussein, and Amr Ibn Al-Aas are among mosques in Old Cairo to be sterilised
Published in Daily News Egypt on 14 - 04 - 2021

Specialised departments at the Egyptian Armed Forces are continuing to carry out disinfection and sterilisation at places frequented by citizens on a daily basis during Ramadan.
The move has been taken to help avoid an increase in numbers of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases.
Heavy vehicles and portable disinfection units carried out preventive disinfection and sterilisation operations at a number of major mosques that witnessed a high turnout of worshipers performing rituals during the holy month of Ramadan.
These mosques included the Al-Azhar Mosque, Al-Hussein Mosque and Amr Ibn Al-Aas Mosque in Old Cairo.
The preventive disinfection and sterilisation work covered the facades of mosques, floors and walls, with chemicals used in the disinfection and sterilisation process that matched standard specifications to achieve the best results.
This comes in line with the precautionary measures taken by the state to limit the spread of the coronavirus. It also comes within the framework of the Armed Forces' plan to provide support to various state bodies in their efforts to curb the spread of infections.
The Armed Forces have undertaken several sterilisation operations since the start of the pandemic in various public areas across the nation.
On Tuesday, Egypt reported 823 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total infection tally to 212,130 since the outbreak began in February 2020. The Ministry of Health and Population also reported 39 new deaths, bringing the total number of deaths from the virus to 12,526. A total of 432 patients have been discharged after recovering from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 160,431.
