Government discusses tourism programmes for Egyptian expats
Expats are country's soft power that can help promote tourism, says Minister El-Anani

Nabila Makram, Egypt's Minister of State for Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates' Affairs, has met with Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled El-Anani to discuss boosting cooperation between the two sides.
The joint cooperation aims to provide tourism services to Egyptians living abroad. The meeting discussed mechanisms to ensure full benefit from the various programmes and activities offered by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.
It also looked at ways to prepare special programmes for Egyptians abroad to visit tourist and archaeological sites and museums in the country.
Makram talked about the fruitful cooperation between the two ministries on programmes for young Egyptians abroad, notably those second and third generation expatriates. These programmes also focused on young students studying abroad, and aim to organise field visits to tourist destinations in Egypt.
She added that, as part of the National Strategy for Young Egyptians Abroad, her Ministry's Center for Dialogue for Young Learners Abroad will highlight the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities' programmes.
This aims to motivate young people studying abroad, and Egyptians abroad in general, to participate in these programmes.
For his part, El-Anani expressed his full readiness to cooperate with the Ministry of Emigration and Egyptian Expatriate Affairs, and to prepare special programmes for Egyptians abroad.
He noted that expatriate Egyptians represent a soft power that the country must benefit from in promoting domestic tourism and tourist destinations.
At the end of the meeting, the two ministers agreed to prepare educational, entertainment, and introductory programmes on tourism and archaeological sites and museums located across the country.
This would be aimed particularly at Egyptians abroad, and to invest in this segment of the population to promote Egyptian tourism destinations. It would also encourage their participation in promotional events and campaigns for Egyptian tourism abroad, and major tourism events.
