The e-Transaction Security Sector at the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) has received the ISO/IEC 27001:2013 Global Certificate in Information Security.
In a statement on Tuesday, ITIDA stated that it had obtained the internationally-recognised certificate in record time and without any "non-conformity" points. It noted that this is an exceptional achievement, particularly in light of the current conditions and challenges due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The e-Transactions Security Sector obtained the quality certificate as part of ITIDA's keenness to adopt international best practices across all its departments and services. The agency has been strongly investing in bringing its activities, particularly in digital transaction security, up to international standards.
The agency is looking to keep pace with developments in this field, in addition to managing and monitoring information security risks, with the aim of ensuring protection and confidentiality.
ITIDA CEO Hala El-Gohary said that the agency's intention in the coming period is to achieve a breakthrough in electronic transactions field. It also looks to actively and effectively participate in building Egypt's digital strategy, as part of the state's direction towards digital transformation.
El-Gohary highlighted the agency's role in building up its employees' qualifications in the field, in addition to efforts in localising technology and deploying electronic signature technology services.
This comes particularly after ITIDA's amendments of its executive regulations covering the electronic signature law. These amendments were activated according to recent decisions issued by Minister of Communication and Information Technology Amr Talaat.
The ISO/IEC 27001:2013 Global Certificate in Information Security provides the methodology for building an integrated information security system that achieves the highest standards of security and confidentiality. The methodology guarantees the protection of information at all levels, consistent with various governmental or private organisations.
