L'Oréal Egypt to donate over 50,000 locally produced hand sanitiser units Over 10,000 units of personal hygiene products to be distributed to medical teams, patients at isolation hospitals
L'Oréal Egypt will donate over 50,000 hand sanitiser units as part of a solidarity programme to support the country's fight against the coronavirus (COVID-19). The company's Cairo plant has started production of hand sanitizers under its Garnier natural beauty brand, joining 28 L'Oréal plants around the globe supporting community needs. The hand sanitizers will be donated from the initial production, with an aim to support various stakeholders. They include hospitals and healthcare professionals who are on the front-line in the fight to curb the spread of the virus. Non-profit organisations (NGOs) that are committed to protect the more vulnerable population segments, food distribution stakeholders, who guarantee the essential needs of consumers, and salon partners will also benefit. “L'Oréal Egypt feels a deep responsibility to help address this crisis and to show solidarity with the community facing this exceptional situation, especially in vulnerable communities and those who are working on the frontlines," said Benoit Julia, Managing Director of L'Oréal Egypt. "Our Cairo Plant has worked around the clock to be able to provide some relief during this challenging time. The factory will continue to manufacture sanitizers as long as necessary." The company also announced that over 10,000 units of personal hygiene products will be distributed through NGOs to support medical teams and patients at isolation hospitals, in addition to vulnerable communities. “Further support to healthcare professionals includes contribution of La Roche-Posay dermo-cosmetic products to help them reduce the impact of extensive use of facemasks and hand sanitizers during their daily battle against the pandemic,” L'Oréal said. L'Oréal will also provide safety and hygiene training to its partner salons, as well as alcohol-based hand sanitizers, whilst supporting their journey to revive their businesses in the post-pandemic period. Since mid-March, L'Oréal has actively responded to the global emergency with a solidarity plan donating about 14 million units of hand sanitizer and over 4.3 million products, including hand moisturiser and shampoo, to healthcare professionals and of its retail customer and suppliers' employees.
