CPA puts out two fires in Qaliubiya, Giza
Three people injured as huge fire erupted in Shubra El-Kheima building
Published in Daily News Egypt on 06 - 05 - 2020

Three people have been injured following a large fire that erupted early on Wednesday at a ten floor building in the Meit Nama area of Shubra El-Kheima in Qaliubiya governorate.
The injured had suffered from smoke inhalation at the building, which included a store for manufacturing and selling chandeliers. The fire started in the chandelier workshop and store, before spreading to the rest of the building. No fatalities have been reported in the incident.
The Civil Protection Authority (CPA) put out the fire after battling the blaze for nearly five hours, with fire trucks and ten ambulances dispatched to the scene. The victims were transferred to Qaliub Specialized Hospital.
Najwa Al-Asheeri, Head of the West Shubra El-Kheima district said the CPA saved the lives of nine workers, but that damage to property is likely to be in the millions.
A committee of district engineering and licences was formed to investigate the incident, causes of the fire and the damage it caused.
In the meantime, the CPA managed to put out another fire on Wednesday at an automotive oils shop in Al-Bahr Al-Aazam Street, Giza. The fire spread to a car wash and an apartment near the shop.
The CPA dispatched several ambulances and fire trucks to the scene, but no injuries were reported. Although the Prosecution is conducting an investigation into the cause of the fire, initial reports suggest it was caused by an electrical short circuit
