Egyptian steel, iron, cement exports decline 33% in 1Q 2020
The report said 67% of these exports went to Saudi Arabia, Libya, Spain, the US, the Netherlands, Kenya, Italy, and Uganda at value of $113.077m.

Egypt's exports of iron, steel and cement declined in the first quarter (Q1) of 2020 to $169m, according to a monthly Export Council for Building Materials report.
The Q1 figures indicate a 32.7% decline on the same period last year, when Q1 of 2019 exports in these materials recorded $251m.
The report said 67% of these exports went to Saudi Arabia, Libya, Spain, the US, the Netherlands, Kenya, Italy, and Uganda at value of $113.077m.
Iron and steel exports declined by about 53% during Q1 of 2020 to record $138m, compared to $213m in the same period in 2019.
The report added that iron and steel exports went to 57 countries in Q1 of 2020. Of these, 17 countries, including Croatia, Uruguay, the UAE, Singapore, Gabon and Oman, had not imported Egyptian iron and steel during the same quarter in 2019.
The report emphasised that cement exports declined by roughly 18% during the Q1 of 2020 to $31m, compared to $38m during the same period in 2019.
Egypt exported cement during Q1 of 2020 to about 46 countries, including 19 countries who had not imported Egyptian cement in the same quarter in 2019. These importers included Malta, Canada, Ghana, Peru, Benin, Gambia, Sierra Leone, Burkina Faso, and Rwanda.
