Gamea asserts MSMEDA commitment to projects development despite coronavirus Agency allocates EGP 10m to convert vehicles to dual-fuel in cooperation with "Car Gas"
Minister of Trade and Industry and chairperson of the Small, Medium and Micro Enterprise Development Agency (MSMEDA) Nevine Gamea said the agency is committed to the state's directives in implementing all of its development tasks and projects despite the coronavirus outbreak. On Tuesday, the agency contracted a new phase of the switching to dual-fuel vehicles project – running on natural gas and petrol. MSMEDA cooperates with Car Gas, allocating EGP 10m the project. The target for this phase is converting 2,000 vehicles. The contract was signed by MSMEDA head of the Central Sector of Non–Financial Services, Raafat Abbas, and chairperson of Car Gas Hisham El-Safty. Gamea said that this contract comes within the directives of the president to encourage more drivers to convert dual-fuel systems. Which provides thousands of job opportunities in various governorates. Nearly 38,400 vehicles were converted by MSMEDA, she said. They include 30,400 taxis and 8,000 passenger cars, with a total financing of EGP 202m. She revealed that this project aims to protect job opportunities for transportation workers. As gas has remained cheap compared with liquid fuels, conversion will increase their income, as well as reducing pollution and cutting the import bill for liquid fuels.
