Abdel Wahab Sons invests EGP 20m to establish frozen vegetable factory in 2020
Company targets 40,000 tonnes of exports this year, Abdel Wahab says

Abdel Wahab Sons Company for Exporting Agricultural Crops aims to increase the volume of its exports this year to 40,000 tonnes this year, compared to 25,000 tonnes last year, an increase of 60%.
Mohie Abdel Wahab, vice-chairperson of the company's board of directors, estimated the volume of the company's exports during the past year at about 25,000 tonnes and aims to increase it by about 60% during the current season, to reach 40,000 tonnes.
He explained that the company exports 80% of its production to Saudi Arabia, China, Oman, Russia, Ukraine and Malaysia, and it aims to increase its exports to those markets, besides opening up new export markets in the Netherlands, England and France.
He added that the company produces 50% of the quantities required for export through cultivating its 1,000 feddans of land, and it purchases the rest by contracting with farmers and traders.
The company was established in 2005 and is specialised in exporting agricultural crops, including lemons, oranges, onions, watermelons, grapes, pomegranates, green beans and coloured pepper, and it has two sorting and packaging plants with a production capacity of 45,000 tonnes annually.
He noted that the company allocated initial investments estimated at about EGP 20m to set up a factory for frozen vegetables and fruits, during the first quarter of 2020, provided that the entire production of the new factory be exported next year.
Abdel Wahab added that the factory has an area of 5 feddans and is located on the Cairo-Alexandria Desert Road. It includes two production lines with an initial production capacity of about 10,000 tonnes per month.
The company is preparing to conclude several contracts with clients abroad and the famous commercial chains by participating in Fruit Logistica in Europe.
He explained that participating in international exhibitions is the best way to identify global trends and build a mental image of their products in particular and Egyptian exports in general.
