LNA strikes GNA-linked targets in Misrata
Raid allegedly target Turkish military presence at Libyan airbase
Published in Daily News Egypt on 27 - 07 - 2019

The Libyan National Army (LNA), led by Khalifa Haftar, has attacked military targets in the north Libyan city of Misrata, according to the Sputnik news agency.
According to local sources, the LNA warplanes allegedly targeted Turkish military presence at the base.
The strikes came only a day after forces under the command of the Government of National Accord (GNA) hit Al-Jufra airbase in central Libya, where it destroyed ammunition depots, and drones as well as a military cargo plane used to supply LNA forces in southern Tripoli frontlines.
Early this month, the governments of Egypt, France, Italy, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and the United States said in a joint statement that they reiterate their deep concern about ongoing hostilities in Tripoli, call for an immediate de-escalation and halt to the current fighting, and urge the prompt return to the UN-mediated political process.
The LNA accused Turkey of supporting numerous extremist militant groups, in addition to supporting the GNA, an interim government formed in Libya under the terms of the Libyan Political Agreement signed in 2015.
The LNA considers the GNA as a terrorist entity.
In the same context, the United Nations Security Council on Friday unanimously called for both sides of the power struggle in Libya to de-escalate violence and return to the negotiating table.
