Published in Daily News Egypt on 09 - 07 - 2019

The New Administrative Capital's airport is in the final phase and will open in less than a year from the announcement of the beginning of its establishment. The new airport aims to link most of Egypt's governorates and achieve a wide average of passenger traffic.
The ministry of civil aviation will begin an experimental operation for the New Capital's airport on Tuesday, after the completion of its operations and the preparation for the reception of flights, state-run MENA news agency reported.
"The ministry has finalised all the needed facilities attached to guarantee passengers' comfort, and the airport is ready for the trial run," said Mohamed Mahrous the head of the Egyptian Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation.
The statement further explained that the national company, EgyptAir, finished its equipment inside the airport, and the free markets with the arrival and travel services in preparation for the trial operation.
Moreover, a delegation from the ministry of civil aviation has inspected the travel and arrival facilities, passport counters, the free markets, luggage area, airstrip, and air traffic control to find out the readiness of the airport for the experimental operation and the availability of all technical, logistical, and security aspects at the airport as required.
The airport is set to have the capacity to accommodate 300 passengers per hour, with 45 buildings around the place and a main terminal of over 5,000 sqm of space, which will help ease the load on the Cairo International airport.
