Merseyside derby: Premier League leaders Liverpool clash with Everton
Published in Daily News Egypt on 03 - 03 - 2019

Liverpool will seek victory on Sunday when they visit Goodison Park stadium to face rival Everton in the Merseyside derby in the 29th matchweek of the English Premier League.
Led by German Jürgen Klopp, Mohamed Salah and his teammates aim to repeat their triumph over their neighbours to secure the precious three points and maintained their lead of the EPL amid the fierce competition with Manchester City.
If Liverpool stumbled on Sunday, they would jeopardise their title winning chances, especially after losing six points in last four matches. The Reds aim to benefit from their positive result last week against Watford which ended 5-0.
The previous Merseyside derby at Anfield stadium witnessed the Reds' 1-0 win with a late goal by Divock Origi.
Salah will also aim to return to the scoresheet in the Premier League, since he could not score in the last two matches. Salah's last league goal was against Bournemouth in the 26th matchweek, ranking second among the league's top scorers with 17 goals, following Manchester City's Sergio Agüero (18 goals).
Liverpool tops the Premier League with 69 points, one point ahead of Manchester City, while Everton is the ninth with 36 points.
Liverpool will have a number of crucial matches in March, to begin them with a confrontation with the blue neighbours, followed by Burnley at Anfield in the 30th matchweek before heading to Craven Cottage to face Fulham, which is threatened with relegation, and to conclude the month with a heavyweight confrontation against the third-placed Tottenham Hotspur that has made significant results this season.
In another match, Chelsea will be hosted by Fulham at Craven Cottage in search for a new victory that gives them the chance to return to the top four.
The Blues are in high morale after coach Maurizio Sarri helped them defeat their London rival Tottenham in the last week. The team has regained its balance after a series of negative results, pushing them down to the sixth place on the league table with 53 points. Meanwhile, Fulham 19th in the table with 10 points, will have a difficult match after Scott Parker takes charge of the team following the sacking of Claudio Ranieri.
