Tarek Amer, the governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), will travel to the Senegalese capital Dakar in March in order to chair the Association of African Central Banks' (AACB) meetings. The meetings are set to discuss the implementation of several recommendations and resolutions, which were the outcome of the meetings held in Sharm El-Sheikh in August 2018, in order to reach a single African currency and an African central bank by 2045.
Naglaa Nozahie, the governor's advisor for African affairs and the supervisor of the Economic Research Sector, said that the meetings will be held between 11-13 March 2019, and will discuss the implementation of the recommendations, in addition to completing the operationalisation of the remaining decisions and tackling the challenges which face their execution. The meetings will also discuss the action plans of all the parties emanating from the association, and will also prepare for the meeting which will take place in Kigali in August 2019, as well as arrange the AACB's continental seminar, which will be organised in cooperation with the CBE in Mauritius.
Nozahie added that the past five months witnessed the implementation of a large number of the decisions taken by the board of governors of the AACB, which were issued after the meeting in Sharm El-Sheikh on 9 August 2018, noting that the upcoming period will witness several workshops and training courses, such as an execution of the remaining decisions of the AACB.
