Badr El-Deen Food Industries aims to export half of its production to global markets over the upcoming years, compared to 35% expected to be exported by the end of this year.
Sobhy Ashoush, the chairperson of the company, said that the company has resorted to exporting following the crises that the local market faced over the past few years.
He expected the company's exports this year to reach 35% of production, targeted to increase to 50% over the upcoming years, through entering European markets and intensifying the company's presence in them.
The company's exports are concentrated in six countries, which are Saudi Arabia, UAE, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, and Morocco. It also aims to enter the markets of Germany and France over the upcoming period, he explained.
Ashoush noted that the aim of participating in the Sial Food Industries Exhibition is to introduce buyers in Europe to the company's products in order to widen the client base in these markets which would contribute to increasing exports.
The company aims to increase the production capacity of its factory to reach 1.500 tonnes annually, compared to only 800 tonnes. Its factory also works in the field of drying fruits such as lemons, strawberries and mangoes, in addition to producing juices, added the company chairperson.
He pointed out that this year the company opened a production line to manufacture juices from basil seeds, for the first time in Egypt. Previously, it was imported from Thailand and Vietnam. Currently, the local product is available in the market, and even gets exported to the markets of Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Kuwait, and Lebanon.
Dried fruit products have a great advantage in Arab and European markets, unlike the case in the local market which relies on fresh fruits, noting that the company is developing new products, in addition to the current types, such as dried hernex, which is expected to be met with great demand in the European market over the upcoming period, concluded Ashoush.
