Launching small industries complex in Sukhna, includes 47 factories with investments worth EGP 800m: Industry Minister

We seek to achieve a real industry that increases GDP rates and create jobs: Kabil

Minister of Trade and Industry Tarek Kabil has opened a complex for small industries in Suez Industrial Development Company in Ain Sukhna City on an area on 35,000 square metres. It comprises of 47 factories with total investments worth EGP 800m. It provides about 5,000 jobs.
"In its first phase, the complex includes 17 factories, and the majority of factories have started actual production in the field of recycling papers, packing fertilisers, manufacturing medicines and medical products, and packing legumes," said the minister.
The minister noted that opening the complex achieves the goals and plan of the ministry to develop small projects, which represent the main pillar of structuring the national economy. He pointed out that the ministry also seeks to expand the establishment of such complexes to add new industrial capacities and create more jobs.
Kabil has showcased the industrial plan of the Suez Industrial Development Company established on an area of 9 million sqm, including 55 factories with total investments worth EGP 70bn. The plan includes the iron, ceramic, food, and fertiliser industries, in addition to pharmaceutical and chemical products.
Kabil said that his ministry is currently seeking to establish a real national industry that adds to GDP and provides alternative goods for the imported ones in order to reduce the pressure on foreign currency and improve the balance of payments.
In the same context, the minister of industry has opened a complex for vocational and technical training affiliated with the Productivity and Vocational Training Department in Suez on an area of 2700 sqm.
"The ministry pays great attention to the process of vocational training, which directly contributes to improving the industrial development system and increasing the competitiveness of national industry locally and internationally," the minister said.
The complex includes a large number of classrooms and workshops for industrial electricity and electronics, in addition to a computer network maintenance laboratory, and workshops for pipe maintenance, refrigeration, and air conditioning, as well as ready-made apparels.
The minister said that the new complex includes 10 main professions, including turnery and welding machines, in addition to three new professions, which are car maintenance, computer maintenance, and manufacture of ready-made garments. The complex receives 600 students for three years of study based on the industrial apprenticeship system. It provides students in industrial companies in Suez with practical training.
Kabil added that the ministry supports the idea of the participation of the private sector in managing the organisation of industrial training in Egypt, noting that the old buildings in the complex in Suez will be restored and re-operated in partnership with the private sector.
