The head of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) Mohab Mamish left on Sunday to Germany, accompanied by a delegation of representatives of the investment and legal sectors, to promote the SCZone and continue previous discussions with some of the companies that he visited in June.
Mamish said that the visit comes within the framework of what was agreed upon with the German side during the German-Egyptian Economic Forum, which was held in Berlin in June, in which the SCZone participated in.
He noted that he will present the latest developments of the SCZone to the German businesspeople and senior officials during bilateral meetings between the two sides, in addition to the presentation of investment opportunities and incentives that the SCZone provides to investors. He pointed out that the tour will include the most important cities Germany: Berlin, Frankfurt, Hamburg, and Munich and meet with major companies operating in the automotive, energy, small and medium enterprises, and manufacturing companies.
The visit of the delegation of the SCZone begins with visiting the German technical training centres, especially in Munich, to learn about the German expertise in the training and rehabilitation of technical workers and transfer the knowledge to the similar centre in the SCZone, which will be established soon in cooperation with Singapore and Vietnam.
In this context, Mamish noted he will meet officials of Siemens and Bauer and their affiliated centres to agreeing on establishing similar technical training centres within the zone, especially those involved in the industry, shipbuilding, and port development.
Major general Mahfouz Abdul Rahman Taha, vice chairperson of the SCZone for the Southern Area, and the CEO of Jushi for FiberGlass, signed an agreement for expanding the Jushi Egypt in the economic zone in Ain Sokhna, with an investment cost of $60m on an area of 90,000 sqm.
This came during the China-Egypt investment forum held last week in Wenchuan County in the presence of Minister Industry and Trade Tarek Kabil.
Mahfouz announced that after signing the contract, more companies will soon join.
There are a number of incentives including the joint trade agreements between Egypt and a number of Arab, African, and European countries that facilitate the rapid and easy exchange of products of these countries and give them discounts at customs, which makes it easier for products to be exchanged. These agreements facilitate access of products to 1.6 billion people around the world.
