Minister of Industry and Trade holds bilateral talks with his Belarusian counterpart

Increasing bilateral trade between the two countries is essential, says Tarek Kabil

Tarek Kabil, the Minister of Industry and Trade, held a session of bilateral talks with Vladimir Koltovich, the Belarusian trade minister, on the sidelines of the fourth session of the Joint Egyptian Belarusian Commission on Commerce and Trade, which was held in the Belarusian capital, Minsk, according to a press statement on Thursday.
The session dealt with the joint efforts between officials of the two countries to develop trade and economic relations, and it saw the discussion of the latest developments of the free trade agreement between Egypt and the Eurasian economic union. Kabil emphasised the importance of this agreement in granting preferential benefits to the products of the members to enter their markets without any obstacles or restriction.
Earlier in January, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi signed a joint declaration with his Belarusian counterpart to advance each other's foreign trade interests in the economic unions the countries belong to.
Moreover, Kabil stressed the importance of increasing bilateral trade between the two countries, especially increasing Egyptian exports to Belarus by removing obstacles that impede their flow, especially agricultural products, furniture, ceramics, carpets, marble, and granite. He added that the participation of the Belarusian business community in exhibitions in Egypt is essential, to introduce them to Egyptian products.
On the other hand, the Belarusian trade minister pointed out that Egypt is an important political and economic partner of Belarus. He stressed his country's keenness on expanding the volume of trade with Egypt, explaining that there are a number of Belarusian companies that are eager to establish partnerships with ones in Egypt, as the Egyptian market is one of the most promising one in the Middle East and Africa.
