Accor Hotels, a leading hotel operator, announced on Sunday the signing of a hotel management agreement (HMA) between Arabia Group, the Ministry of Housing, and developers of residential, retail, and commercial developments in Egypt and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The agreement included adding Fairmont Pyramids Hotel and Residences—scheduled to be opened in 2022—to Accor Hotel's luxury portfolio, increasing the number of Accor hotels in Egypt to 32 operational and under-construction hotels.
Fairmont Pyramids Hotel and Residences will feature 250 rooms and 200 branded residences. It is located four kilometres from the Great Pyramids, and three minutes from the Grand Museum, with easy access to the new ring road that constitutes a connection to the New Administrative Capital.
"We are excited to announce the addition of Fairmont Pyramids Hotels and Residences to our Egypt luxury portfolio," said Sami Nasser, Accor's chief operating officer of luxury brands in the Middle East. "This announcement highlights the group's commitment to the destination and its envisioned potential," he added.
"We look forward to playing an integral role in re-energising the country's tourism infrastructure," said Frank Naboulsi, regional vice president and general manager of Fairmont Nile City. "The destination has demonstrated positive growth over the past few years, which increased the appeal of international hospitality brands. Our partnership with Arabia Group also highlights our intention to accelerate expansion and create job opportunities for the local market," Naboulsi added.
Accor Hotels is currently operating 20 hotels in Egypt, with 12 hotels under construction, encompassing 10,800 rooms and residences across the luxury, upscale, midscale, and economy segments. Some of the hotels include Sofitel Cairo El Gezirah and Fairmont Nile City.
