Schneider Electric to supply equipment to Ain Sokhna phosphate fertilisers complex Company contracted for installations in 9 factories, supply to be completed in December, says Shaheen
Schneider Electric contracted to supply and install all the electrical equipment in nine factories in the phosphate fertilisers complex in Ain Sokhna. Head of industries in Egypt and Africa Mohamed Shaheen said that El Nasr for Intermediate Chemicals, one of National Service Products Organisation's (NASPO) subsidiaries, awarded the executive works to three contractors from China, Spain, and Italy. The company also hired Schneider Electric to supply all the electric equipment to the nine factories included in the project. Shaheen told Daily News Egypt that this includes supplying and installing medium and low pressure boards, adapters, and speed converters, adding that all supplies will be completed by the end of December. He noted that contracting with three different contractors of different nationalities confirms their confidence that Schneider Electric can supply and install all equipment in a major national project. Schneider Electric provides technological solutions, software, and services to enable its clients to manage their operations better through using automated control systems based on a range of integrated solutions. Moreover, the technological solutions linked to the internet provided by the company work to reform the different industries, develop cities, and enrich the lives of citizens. The total cost of the project is estimated at EGP 12bn. It is composed of nine different fertiliser factories that produce different types of fertilisers used to enrich the soil and increase the yield per acre. It is set to provide 2,000 direct jobs and 15,000 indirect jobs, as well as 4,000 jobs during constructions. Furthermore, the project also includes the establishment of a maritime quay for exporting products through the Ain Sokhna port and a water desalination plant to provide water to all industrial activities. The project aims to cover the local market's fertiliser needs and export the surplus production. The total capacity of all nine factories amounts to 1 million tonnes per year of phosphate, compound, and dap fertilisers, as well as commercial and pure phosphoric acid. The project will contribute to cover the needs of fertilisers at affordable prices and increase Egypt's exports of these products. This would also help increase agriculture products and create jobs.
